Competencies |
Background The competencies listed at the left integrate the multitude of discrete performance activities found in ISU's Technology Standards for All Teacher Candidates into a small number of integrated tasks. These consolidated performance indicators define technological competencies at a broad level, communicating a view that prospective teachers should demonstrate knowledge and skills in an integrated fashion rather than as specific, minute behaviors that they might be expected to demonstrate one-by-one on demand. The competencies relate what all teacher candidates should be able to do at a minimum under authentic teaching conditions. Arguably, any student who completes all assessments encountered in the ITPS rightfully can be said to have demonstrated the competencies required by the University and external accrediting agencies.
